One indexed, unpaginated section of bw photographs; seven indexed maps drawn by K.C. Jordan. Top edge of text block dyed black. Tan cloth w fine red lettering on spine. No edgewear, light bumping to corners, head and tail. Binding square and sound. Illustrated yellow DJ showing wear to corners, shallow chipping to head and 4cm vertical tear, wear to tail. DJ preserved now in archival cover. Originally published 1959, this Readers Union edition was produced in 1960 for sale to it members only. This is Flemming's account of the Boxer Rebellion and the European-led siege of the Imperial capital city.
