London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1956. 1st Edition First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Rudland. 1956 first edition. Size octavo, 8.75" tall, 211 pages. Brown hard cover with yellow titles to the spine, paste-downs and end-papers are printed with maps, with the dust jacket. Book condition very good, a little spotting to the edge of the text block and the first and last few pages, clean other than this. Dust jacket condition very good, corners and spine ends slightly chipped, a couple of tiny tears without loss to the upper edge, price appears to have been clipped. Dust jacket illustration by Rudland. Contains 5 maps including the one on the end-papers and 6 illustrations. Tells the gripping story of the 1944 16 day battle of the 500 small Royal West Kent Regiment against the siege of some 100,000 Japanese soldiers in the mountainous regions of Burma.
