Evans Studios, 1920. Siver gelatin photo. Nelson Evans signature in white (in negative). Mary Pickford's signature in ink pen to right side. Slight silvering to edges. Blank to verso. 215 x 155 mm (8½ x 6 inches). Known initially as "the girl with the curls", Mary Pickford (1892-1979) was set to become a pioneer of early cinema. A talented performer, creative producer and astute businessperson, Pickford helped to shape the film industry we still know today, having joined Douglas Fairbanks, D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin to form United Artists.
