Every facet of life was affected, and the churches of the Old Order of Baptists felt the division keenly." A stalwart proponent of the Old School or Primitive Baptist theology and present at the denomination's September 1832 schism from the Missionary or New School Baptist church at the Black Rock Meeting House (aka the Black Rock Convention or Black Rock Address) in Baltimore County, Maryland, Elder Gilbert Beebe founded the religious newspaper "Signs of the Times" in the fall of 1832 at New Vernon, New York. At least five vols published.
