Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1952. First edition, limited issue, #32 of 750 copies signed by the author. Octavo, steel gray cloth, pp. 533; attractive title page decoration and illustrated endpapers by "Palacio". This copy additionally inscribed by Costain, "Dear Gordon [Jones, pencilled in, then Costain's holograph continues on a difficult hand to decipher, ending:] Most affectionately, as ever, Tom /July 16, 1952". Paper clip impressions on the edges of the first four leaves, else near fine, lacking the original acetate wrapper and slipcase. Watters. p. 267.
