The Bodley Head, London, 1926. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. XVI, 312pp., 8 pages of advertisements. Grey linen grain cloth with purple decoration on the front board and spine and purple writing on the front panel and spine. Shelf wear to the bottom edges of the book and bumping to the head and to the healed spine. On the bottom edge of the paper, the results of insect activity can be seen. Browning and foxing to the paper edges. The cloth has been somewhat rubbed and faded, particularly on the spine. Front panel is somewhat bowed. Original bookseller's sticker on the right-hand corner of the front paste down. Some results of insect activity can be seen to the end papers. Offset caning has occurred to front and back end papers and foxing as well. Some foxing throughout the book has occurred as well. In this book "...relates the bizarre adventures of Manuel's barons after his death, and the growth of the sentimental, women-fostered and wholly untrue legend of Manual the Redeemer as a quasi-Christian saviour and saint.". Another in the sequence of Dom Manuel, saviour of Poictesme. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1.
