About This Item
New York: Robert M. McBride, 1928. This is a Very Good copy of the First Illustrated Edition (stated First Impression), issued two years after the first publication. Highly decorative cloth binding in black and gold; wonderfully illustrated by Frank C. Pape. Cabell (1879-1958) is generally known as a Southern writer of fantasy. He was highly regarded by Twain and has had an influence on many modern writers of "science fiction" such as Robert Heinlein. Clean text; 359 pages; illustrated endpapers. Mildly bumped and rubbed, with a faded spine. Condition issues: has seen water in the past - there is flood marking along some of the foreedges, and the gutters are split but holding. Previous-owner signature on second endpaper. Lacking the dustjacket. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Thus.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Frank C. Pape.
