This is the De Luxe 2020 Edition of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl and Sir Orfeo, published by Harper Collins. From the loose leaf flyer, "A special edition of this collection of three medieval English poems, translated by Tolkien for the modern-day reader and edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien, containing romance, tragedy, love, sex and honour, with many exclusive features." Illustrated by Bill Sanderson, with a full page drawing, signed and dated 30th April 2020. Published by Harper Collins Publishers in 2020, this being the 1st impression of 2020, printed and bound by Rotolito in Italy. This de luxe edition is housed in the publishers custom slipcase with ornate stamping in gold. Both the book and slipcase are in As New condition with no notable flaws or faults. Still wrapped in shrinkwrap, opened at the spine for the illustrator. Facsimile of the first three versus of "Gawain's Leave-Taking" and another of the Fourth verse in the manuscript of 'Gawain's Leave-Taking', followed by an early draft of part of the opening Canto of the 'Gest of Beren and Luthien'. A beautiful collectable copy for the Tolkien enthusiast. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
