First Edition. Autobiography of the British co-operator and journalist. Holyoake joined the Chartist, and Owenite movements, and successively edited 'The Oracle of Reason', 'The Movement', the 'Reasoner', the 'Leader', and 'The Secular Review'. He was inventor of the term 'secularism', which he first used in 1846 to define his developing religious views. To the end he supported the co-operative movement and advocated co-operative production through the self-governing workshop. He agitated for the abolition of paper duties, the extension of the franchise, and electoral reform.. F. Hardcover.
