About This Item
Garden City, New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc, 1933. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Good. A photographer's freak accident in the darkroom produces a chemical concoction causing him and his dog to randomly switch back and forth between normal and X-ray (skeleton) versions of themselves. Thorne Smith's rapid-fire dialogue, brilliant sense of the absurd, and literary aplomb put him in the same category as Dorothy Parker, James Thurber, and P.G. Wodehouse. Octavo. Original black cloth binding, with gilt stamping. Some general shelfwear to the dust jacket, with a few tape reinforcements to the verso; otherwise very good.
