Prior owner's address label at bottom of title page, otherwise like new. Pyramid mass paperback, 1958, Pyramid G-332, 159 pages, cover art by Richard Powers. 12mo (7.25"" x 4.25"") First published in Amazing Stories, August-October 1928 as The Skylark of Space by Edward E. Smith and Lee Hawkins Garby. The text was revised by Smith for the 1958 Pyramid reprint, omitting most of Garby's contributions, and her name was dropped from that point on. First in series, followed by Skylark Three, Skylark of Valeron, and Skylark DuQuesne.
Synopsis
The Skylark of Space is one of the earliest novels of interstellar travel. Originally serialized in 1928 in the magazine Amazing Stories, it was first published in book form in 1946 by The Buffalo Book Co. It was written between 1915 and 1921 by Edward E. "Doc" Smith while working on his doctorate and later as a food chemist, and Lee Hawkins Garby, the wife of his college classmate and later neighbor Carl Garby.
