About This Item

Hamish Hamilton., 1959. First edition. Octavo. 223 pages. Still one of the best books written about the Hollywood scene. Puff on the dustwrapper (''How I wish I had written this book!'') by Christopher Isherwood.Presentation copy from the author, inscribed by him on the title-page: ''to Andrew (from Cheltendale) - Gavin Lambert''. The recipient is Andrew Wickham who worked in Los Angeles during the sixties finding musical talent for Warner Brothers. Lambert and Wickham were both alumni of Cheltenham College, so the reference in the inscription must be some kind of in-joke.Fine in fine dustwrapper with a hint of fading to the spine.
