First American hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by Doubleday-Crime Club, 1976. The sixth book in the Sloan and Crosby series. Tom Fent has died in a car crash, though the autopsy finds evidence of poison. 184 pages, 5-3/4" X 8-1/2". The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped, original price of $5.95 is printed on the top corner of the front flap. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn. No former ownership marks. There is a hand written price in ink on the top corner of the first flyleaf - see photos, but no further writing besides that. Not a remainder, not a library discard copy. The binding is tight. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
