Souvenir Press. London. 1989. SIGNED FIRST EDITION. 4to. (12.1 x 8.8 inches). One of an unspecified number of copies bound in the publisher's delux blue leather binding and signed by Searle on the verso of the title page. Fully illustrated throughout with sixty full page colour plates by Searle, each with a humorous book related title on the opposite leaf. Single page introduction by Searle at the front and 4pp humorous glossary of book collecting terms at the end of the book. Fine copy in the publishers original delux dark blue Morocco leather binding with gilt lettering to the spine. Mustard yellow endpapers. Top edge blue. This same binding was used for the 150 numbered and signed copies of this edition. A beautiful, fine copy of this very amusing book. ---- "A splendid book; for the wicked mind of Ronald Searle, for the freshness of the cartoons, for the pithiness of the glossary but most of all for reminding both booksellers and book collectors that the business can be fun!". - The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association Newsletter.

Nims and Knight. Troy. New York. 1889. Calendar printed on 18 stiff sheets of card. (5.9 x 4.5 inches). Complete. Each leaf has a litho colour illustration depicting a scene from Japanese life, printed after fine water colours by J. Pauline Sunter. Twelve of the cards have the month dates printed to the side of the illustration. The lithography is by G. H Beuk & Co, New York. The cards are held together by two metal rings through punched holes at the top, and have a white silk cord, with tassles, threaded through. The cards are stiff white coated paper with silver edges. The front card has damage to the two holes and is now not attached but all others are firmly in place.
