Roy. 8vo (250x180mm), cont. full prize calf, decorative gilt tooled border to both boards, raised bands to spine, gilt tooling to compartments, leather title-piece, marbled edges and endpapers. Some wear to extremities, some rubbing to spine and joints, short splits to head/foot of joints. Gilt crest of Edinburgh Institution to front board and prize bookplate dated 1890.. First edition. Printed by B. Fawcett, Driffield, with attractive colour plates (16 of birds by A.F. Lyden; 16 of eggs). Title page printed in red and black. Nissen IVB 6..
