Ornithology Monographs . 1st. Ed. Pub. George Bell. 1874. pp.iv, 252 with 16 colour plates of birds by A.F. Lydon and 16 colour plates of eggs. Small 4to. Occ. light spotting o/w., contents fine. Charming, early, pencilled notes to tissue guard of egg plate 16. Original, gilt decorated boards very bright and in thor. vg. condition. A very pleasing copy. Informed and charmingly written. Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917) was a British watercolour artist, illustrator and engraver of natural history and landscapes. He worked for Benjamin Fawcett the printer (of Driffield), to whom he had been apprenticed from an early age.
