[3], iv-xix, [4], 4-487; [3], iv-xvi, [3], 4-464, [2]; [3], iv-xv, [4], 4-619, [3]; [3], iv-xii, [3], 4-507, [3]; [3], iv-xv, [4], 4-500, [2]; [3], iv-xii, [3], 4-498, [4]; [3], iv-xvi, [3], 4-663, [3]; [3], iv-xviii, [3], 4-821, [1] pp. Half sheep over marbled boards, spines in five compartments with gilt lettering and decorations on the spines; all edges marbled. Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Each volume with a green ribbon bookmark bound in. Bound by G. Rautter of Vienna, with the binder's blindstamp on each first blank leaf. With three lithographs in the set, three plates bound in at the end of volume one. Edited by G. Hartenstein. An 1838 edition of Kant's works was published before this, under the auspices of a different editor. This is the first edition of Kant's works edited by Hartenstein. A contemporary Cambridge bookseller's ticket on the front pastedown of volume one. A lovely set of the revolutionary German philosopher's works, printed in their original language. Various degrees of rubbing to each volume's corners and joints (volumes seven and eight show the most significant wear of this kind), some scattered foxing to the pageblocks.
