About This Item

London: G. Bell & Sons LTD, 1937. xi,265 pp. Octavo. Red cloth boards with titles in silver to spine. Very light shelfwear and soiling to boards. Unprice-clipped jacket. Edges of text block lightly foxed with some light age-toning to endpapers. 24 black and white illustrations from photographs. 4 single page maps. A wonderful copy, very clean and attractive in a beautiful dust wrapper. Neate T47. A handsome copy of the true first edition of Tilman's accounts of climbing with Eric Shipton in Africa, including Mt. Kenya, Kilimanjaro and Ruwenzori. The dust jacket has been printed with silver flecks in the paper, giving the impression of snow falling gently. The second book by Tilman, who had an impressive output of over 15 books. 1937
