Boston: Ticknor, Reed and Fields, 1852.. Brown cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. Spine ends frayed, upper board shows some faint spotting, extreme fore-tip of inserted catalogue darkened, a trace of occasional foxing, but a good, sound copy. First (U.S.) edition, probably preceding the British edition according to Clark, or possibly simultaneous with it, according to BAL. This is one of the copies with the inserted 4pp. of ads in front (no priority) - in this case, dated January 1852. A total of 2425 copies were printed. CLARK A19.1.a. BAL 7607. WRIGHT II:1140.
