London: Kaye & Ward, 1967. Third Impression. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fair. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Stated Third Impression of the English translation of the true First Edition. A magnificent, almost how-to manual from a distinguished French alpinist, augmented with many score black-and-white and full-color plates, printed on high-gloss paper. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover bound in a linen buckram cloth, clean, unmarked interior, with minimal rubbing to extremities. Dust jacket present, but in chipped and worn and tape-repaired condition. Rebuffat rose to international prominence in 1950 as one of the four principals of a French expedition during the first ascent of Annapurna, the highest peak then summitted. Rebuffat climbed all six of the great north faces of the Alps: the Grandes Jorasses, the Piz Badile, the Petit Dru, the Matterhorn, the Cima Grande di Lavaredo, and the Eiger. 206 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
