[5], 6-32 pp. Blue cloth with white lettering, white footprint decorations and a red decoration on the front board, red and white lettering on the spine. Ezra Jack Keats Foundation, "Ezra's Bio". A second printing of one the most important children's publications of the twentieth century. Keats experienced a lifetime of antisemitism and discrimination, and this hardship motivated him to write and illustrate books with characters of color, and to produce books in multiple languages. His Snowy Day is a landmark publication. It features a little boy, Peter, experiencing the joys of his first snowfall. Keats used collage, spattering ink, and handmade stamps to create this title's iconic illustration style. It stands as a testament to the power of artistic expression, and speaks to the fair representation of children in literature and art. The boards with sunning to their edges and a touch of foxing; jacket with a few tiny chips and tears, two tape ghosts on both the front and rear panels.

Synopsis

The Snowy Day is a simple tale of a boy waking up to discover that snow has fallen during the night and he adventures out to play in it. The illustrations are a unique combination of cut-outs, watercolors, and collage. 1963 Caldecott Medal Winner
