About This Item

New York: E. P. Dutton and Co. First American Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Thick 8vo. Pp. xxxii, (1), 458. Illustrated with facsimiles of title pages. Bound in blue ribbed cloth, gilt lettering on spine. A touch of dust-soiling to top edge, and corners a tad worn, else Fine. With the pseudo-heraldic bookplate of Mary Scott Townsend, a one-time doyenne of Washington, DC society. No publication date stated, but presumably published soon after the 1903 British edition. Provides an insightful and, at times, amusing view at English life in the 1600s. A handsome, persentable copy.
