Rare study of socialism prepared for the "Volksverein" of Pennsylvania, a Roman Catholic social reform society. The author's analysis was guided by the "well known book on 'Socialism' written by Victor Cathrein, S.J.," i.e. Viktor Cathrein (1845-1931), the Swiss German moral and legal philosopher and Jesuit priest.
Chapter titles include "Marx's Materialistic Conception of History," "The Living Wage," "A Dozen Reasons Why a Catholic cannot be a Socialist," and "What is the object of the 'Volksverein?'"
