Boston: Weeks, Jordan, 1839. First Edition in English.<br/><br/> From the library of Gilbert Chinard with his pencil annotations on the front flyleaf. Author was a French economist who began a diplomatic mission to the United States in 1834. After staying two years, he returned to France. Chevalier traveled to various parts of the United States and his observations include economic aspects of American life. Howes C-359. Sabin 12596.<br/><br/>
