About This Item
1st printing, translated from the German "Der Barras" by Constantine Fitzgibbon. Very good in good to very good unclipped dust jacket. Jacket has a couple of chips to top of spine and light shelf wear along top and bottom edges. Book itself in very good clean condition.
The book has been compared to All Quiet on the Western Front, but in my opinion lacks the literary quality, though it does handle its subject very well. The novel covers German action in North Africa and France during WWII, and is told through the eyes of a German Private and his two companions. The authors contempt for the War Machine is apparent on nearly every page. This is quite a brutal book containing some horrific scenes.
