Victor Gollancz Ltd, London, 1944. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Poor. Illustrator: Photographic. VII, 8-80 pages, last page blank, introduction by James Parkes, glossary of Hebrew terms. The text is illustrated with six pages of black-and-white photographs between pages 48 and 49. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Bumping and fading, commensurate with loss of dustwrapper, to the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners. Browning and foxing to the text block edges. Browning and handling marks to the endpapers and browning to the internal text. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Plain text dustwrapper with yellow background with purple and black titles to the front panel and black titles to the backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the lower back strip edge. The top 1 inch of the backstrip is missing. Heavy browning to the backstrip, and lighter browning to be dustwrapper panels. Some small tears to the lower edge of the front dustwrapper panel and the top edge of the rear dustwrapper panel. Some creasing to the rear fold over panel. The history, between 1941 to 1943 of the Jewish military units active within the Middle East during World War II. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
