About This Item
New York: Viking, 1964. First edition. Fine/Near Fine. A Fine copy of the book, clean, fresh and unread. Price clipped jacket Near Fine on account of a bit of rubbing to the jacket, mostly near the spine extremities. Kesey's epic novel about the Stamper family's place in history. Sometimes a Great Notion tells the story of a labor strike in coastal Oregon's logging industry. The Stampers are not part of the union, whose members go on strike to demand fewer hours and better pay due to decreased demand for their labor. The Stampers decide to cross the picket line and supply the mills with lumber. Kesey's novel digs into the fractious relationships that arise from this labor crisis, both within the community as well as within the Stamper family itself. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.

Synopsis
Sometimes a Great Notion is Ken Kesey's second novel, published in 1964. Although One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is more famous, many critics consider Sometimes a Great Notion his magnum opus. The story revolves around an Oregon logging family that continues to cut trees despite a union strike.
