London : Methuen , 1919 . First Edition . Good . 12MO . The author's first book. He went on to a distinguished literary career and is perhaps best known as the author of Magnolia Street, published in 1932. This copy with a long inscription to Gerald Barry (probably Sir Gerald Berry (1898-1968) the distinguished journalist and editor who was Director-General of the Festival of Britain. A very nice association copy. Dampstaining to both boards, affecting the rear endpaper. Upper portion of spine damaged probably from the same event and missing the spine label.
