About This Item
Munich: MGM MediaGruppe, 1999. Staplebound. [4]-15 pages, wraps. 5.5 x 12.25 in. Oblong wraps. Very Good. Catalog of five installations by composer, electrical engineer, instrument-maker, and kinetic artist Gerhard Trimpin (known professionally by only his surname) with an image of each work, descriptive text, and portions of scores or planning sketches. Includes the prepared piano Contraption IPP71512 (World Financial Center, New York, 1992) and Fire Organ (Brooklyn Bridge, 1999). Trimpin's early interest in playing brass instruments was thwarted when he developed a metal allergy. Many of his works combine computers and traditional musical instruments (a Macintosh personal computer can be seen in the images of his Contraption IPP71512). Trimpin is the recipient of both MacArthur and Guggenheim fellowships. WorldCat reports only one location as of March 2023.
