Social, cultural and political observations about Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, with a couple shorter interludes in Lima and Uruguay, by the leftist Waldo Frank during his 1942 tour of South America. Punctuated with his concerns about the rise of fascism. Waldo Frank (1889-1967) was an American novelist, historian, activist, and critic, who wrote extensively for The New Yorker and The New Republic. He was called ''a literary ambassador to Latin America'' and was highly regarded by his readers throughout Latin America.
