Eastern Long Island is rich in soil and people have lived there for generations tilling and planting the land. It was the meeting place of Dutch and English in the New World, and different strains of Puritanism during the Revolution. Author paints a picture of this unique area of the U.S., much history of which was passed down by his grandparents.
