About This Item
Stockholm: Albert Bonniers Förlag, 1954. Limited Edition / First Swedish Edition. Leather bound. Near fine. Signed limited edition of The Spirit of St. Louis by Charles A. Lindbergh, the Swedish Limited Edition.. Octavo, 484pp, [10 diagrams]. Publisher's decorative blue morocco, gilt title on spine, raised bands, gilt illustration on cover with signature. Binding by Nylén & Co, Bokbinderi AB. Minor rubbing at tips of spine, solid binding. All edges gilt, decorative gilt turn-ins. Deluxe limited edition, this being number 187. Lacking slipcase. Signed by Charles Lindbergh on blank, opposite frontispiece portrait. Lindbergh's first account of his transatlantic journey, titled "We," was published shortly after the historic flight in 1927. Lindbergh was never happy with this rushed account of his journey, written largely by the publisher. His account of the journey, The Spirit of St. Louis, was published in 1953 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography in 1954. The Spirit of St. Louis was ghost written by his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, and its success is widely attributed to her writing skills.
