The famed aviator's autobiographical narrative, with an hour-by-hour account of his pioneering flight across the Atlantic. In 562 pages, with Glossary, Index, photographs, flight log, & detailed engineering drawings of his plane. Hardback book has medium-blue cloth-covered boards & silver lettering on spine & plane outline on front cover; lovely endpapers reproduced from an original aquatint by Burnell Poole. First published in 1953, this is a book club edition (BCE) of that First Edition, identical in appearance save for no "A" on CR page & small emboss on rear board. Condition is VG+: extremely clean, binding tight & square, pages show very mild tanning around all edges, slight rubbing to extremities & corner bumping. The DJ is clipped at top front flap & downgraded to only Fair due to a large missing section from lower spine & lesser chipping at head of spine & all corners.
