London: Chatto & Windus, 1898. Hardcover. Stated "New Edition." 5 x 7.75in. xii. 530pp. [32pp., ads]. "140 engravings from ancient sources." Publisher's cloth boards. The former copy of poet Josephine Preston Peabody's with her signature on the half-title page. GOOD. Shows shelf rubbing of the extremities, spine lightly tanned, slight furrowing, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain distinct. As pictured.
