London: Thomas Tegg and Son, 1834. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo, pp. lxvii, 420, card boards with cloth spine, paper label bearing title, this worn and chipped, boards worn, corners bumped, interior with owner's initials on fep, title page torn towards hinge and several pages missing thereafter until Contents page (xi), thereafter reasonably clean, the paper lightly toned to the peripheries and with the occasional mark, the binding opening at the Contents page and at the rear end paper, otherwise sound, edges dust-dulled. This edition benefits greatly from an index, compiled by William Hone, and 140 illustrations 'selected from ancient paintings'.
