About This Item

The sole UK issue, privately printed by E. Archer, London in 1927. Number '22' of only 100 copies issued, signed by the author to the limitation page. The BOOK is in very Good+ condition. 16 pages (some uncut) stapled into the original marbled card wrappers. Light edge-wear to the covers. Staples are rusted but the binding remains tight. Free form inscriptions. Page edges lightly toned. Portrait frontis drawing of the author by William Roberts. The unprinted paper protector covering is present but is separated, chipped and age marked. The first printing of these two H.E. Bates stories, the first one preceding its appearance in the collection ' Day's End and Other Stories' and the second never reprinted in any form whatsoever (Eads A5). The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. A very good copy of a fragile and most uncommon production. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
