About This Item

New York: Argosy Book Store, 1930. Softcover. Near Fine. No date but circa 1925-30 as per the address of the store at The Bible House in New York City. Illustrated stiff gray wrappers. 51 pp. Near fine, some toning about the edges. An early catalogue from the famed Argosy Book Store in New York City. The store was established in 1925 by Louis Cohen and was originally located in the old Bible House on the city's Fourth Avenue "Book Row"; It moved to E. 59th Street in the 1930s (hence the approximate issue date of this catalogue) and remains in operation under the magagement of the family (now in its fourth generation of booksellers). This catalogue contains 671 offerings. A Twain "Connecticut Yankee first edition could be had for $30, a morocco-bound "Jekyll and Hyde" for $35, a "Jungle Book" first for $15, an original signed "Ulysses" first for $35. (We called them and they no longer have it at that price--thought we'd give it a shot.).
