No date [1923]. 12mo, 17.2cm, The First Edition, 185p., half-title indicates, "People Library", light blue textured cloth, blind stamped decoration on the upper cover, black stamped titles, the binding is fine the text is slightly toned, the jacket was printed on acidic paper and is quite toned and chipped along the top edge, old inner mending tape stains (not bleeding through to jacket surface) in four areas, the panels were split at the folds and have been expertly guarded with acid free mending tissue, so a very near fine copy in tired jacket, copies of the first edition in any jacket are rare (Lt.1). ~ Sullivan 57.
Synopsis
Chesterton's biography of Saint Francis of Assisi is a classic portrait of the saint. Chesterton tries to bring us as close to Francis' interior life as an external observer can manage to be.
