An exceedingly bright, crisp copy.. 16mo. 4 x 6.5 in. 1,340 pp. Black cloth, titles in green, all edges red, with 5 ribbon markers; blue decorative endpapers. Edited by the monks of St. Mary's Abbey, Newark, N.J., Rt. Rev. Patrick O'Brien, O.S.B. Abbott. Profusely illustrated with color plates, as well as black & white vignettes. Text printed in black & red, in Latin & English. Approbations. For a brief moment in the post-war years, as Catholics came into the American mainstream, this curious & strangely attractive publication of Catholic Americana was the best-selling missal in the country. A sharp copy, inscribed by Abbott PATRICK M. O'BRIEN 'God bless you!' on the Feast of the Ascension, 1958.
