About This Item

London England: Collins. Very Good/Good. 1957. 2nd Print. Cloth. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall Hardback Hardback. Previous ownes name to inside cover under D/J. flap. Wear and a cople of small tears to edge of D/J. Don Morgan was sixteen and ready to earn his living. His family expected him to take a job at the local fish cannery but Don thought if he spent the winter up in Starbuck Valley trapping for marten he would make enough money with the furs to buy his own diesel boat for the salmon fishing in the spring. Don was a good sho and he knew the rules of living in the open, but he was inexperienced at trapping marten and a whole winter of this life promised every sort of difficulty. The most important thing was to prove to himself and his family that he could go ahead with a plan they thought risky. With delicate perception the author shows how Don's courage was tested, how his strength and judgement developed. This book is a rare achievement for it combines a skilful novelist's story-telling gifts with a deep, sensative insightin into the problems and point of view of a boy on the threshold of maturity. Illustrations. 254 pp. Plastic protective covering around D/J. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.) .
