About This Item

15151 North Moison Road, Blauvelt, New York: Rudolf Steiner Publications, 1973. Stated first printing at copyright page. First and apparently only printing of this scarce collection of phenomenon, words and names. Stiff cream wraps, bold black cover titles, moderate shelf wear, rub, residue. Pages very good, clean. Section at back with full-page photos, paintings, and sculptures of characters including Steiner from the world of the occulted, mysteriosos, and ancient philosophy. Spine stiff with some crease; interior bind good, some areas starting. Solid intact rarity. Blind-stamp owner's impression at front back cover and one red stamp found inside: "Charlotte Hesser Hilligoss." Stamps inside cover: "Gary J. Sycalik." "Stamp to upper exterior text block: "American Metaphysical Society, 1901 Great Falls Street, McLean, Virginia." Interestingly, McLean is in Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. McLean is home to diplomats, military, Congress members, and high-ranking government officials partially due to its proximity to the District, Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency. Hickory Hill is also in McLean, the former home of Ethel Kennedy, widow of Robert F. Kennedy. Intriguing collection of definitions fairly symmetrical to Rudolf Steiner's work. Interestingly, while there are definitions for all sort of gods and deities of various religions and mythos throughout history from around the world, Lucifer and Satan are not included. Steiner wrote a journal entitled "Lucifer Gnosis" in the early 1900's. And Zeus is the name God, as accepted by the Stoics (q. v.). Rather encyclopedic covering a gamut from East and West, ancient and more modern with a somewhat New Age character. The Jesuits has a single sentence; Ignatius Loyola with longer entry. The devil employs the word evil inside italics and states the individual alone is responsible and not outside influence. Hell is half-heartedly described. 235 pages and twenty pages of photos at back of volume. Insured post.. First Edition. Softcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
