About This Item

NY: Greenwich Book Publishers, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible Near Fine. First printing. Cloth. 59pp. Presentation to no one in particular and signed by Branch. From the dj: "Daniel Webster Wallace was born to Mary Wallace in the year 1860, a few months after she had been sold to Mary O'Daniel for one thousand dollars. He died in 1939, the owner of twelve and one-half sections of land, six hundred head of cattle, a modern eight-room house, barns, lots, and corrals. He was a highly respected member of the community, whose advice was keenly solicited by his white neighbors in Loraine, Texas." Author Branch, the daughter of Daniel Wallace, wrote in the Preface of this biography of her father, "I have endeavored to make it plain that in seeking your goal you will meet with obstacles, but with faith in God, yourself, and your fellowman, you will succeed. There must be trust in people, faith in the divine worth of human personality." Near fine in price-clipped dust jacket which is backstrip faded. The front panel is orange, and the back panel is white. I do not believe the back panel was orange and thus completely bleached out. I believe the backstrip is, however, faded out.
