Octavo. 261 p. + 23 p. publisher's advertisements with "The Uncle Sam Series" to first page. Frontispiece with tissue guard + additional black and white illustrations including one additional black and white plate. Rebound in modern cloth with original blue cloth boards pasted over, original gilt decoration to spine, new endpapers with original front brown endpaper present but lacking at rear.
Boards lightly worn along edges with chipping to edges of original spine. Binding is sound. Newspaper clippings rather shoddily mounted to front preliminaries with some associated staining. Toning and spotting to pages but otherwise legible and unmarked.
