Navy full-cloth boards, silver horizontal spine titles w/decorative bands, light shelf wear. Pages near fine, clean. Charming antiquarian inscription at front endpaper: "4-14-33, To Ko:- Wishing you a very happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day. I hope you enjoy this book a lot. Love, Aunt Helen". Mr. Van Loon has drawn for this book over one hundred and fifty black and white illustrations which are here produced with eight full page plates in color. Dark blue tinted topstain. Bind fine; hinges intact. Rare original blue pictorial wrapper, moderate shelf wear, chip; unclipped 1.00, protected in new clear sleeve. Front panel depicts Van Loon scene of giant pillars w/small entrance and figures in monochromatic silver. Extra-wide front and back flaps present a full, rich summary of this text. Rare near fine first edition thus in good wrapper. At back few pages is a rather throroughly condensed 3-page time-line of the Good Book utilizing animated strips w/blurbs. Also, a 7-page Biblical Reading List for Children selected by Leonore St. John Power. And, finally, a detailed index. 452 pages. Insured post.. First Edition Thus. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good.
