New York: Simon and Schuster, 1967. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Book Club editions. Seven volumes (IV-X). Small quartos. Approximately 6,500pp. Illustrated with black and white plates. A few volumes with bumping to the corners and spine ends, near fine overall, the dust jackets very good overall, with spines in various states of sunning, with some rubbing, and edgewear including a few larger chips. The volumes are: *The Age of Faith*; *The Renaissance*; *The Reformation*; *The Age of Reason Begins*; *The Age of Louis XIV*; *The Age of Voltaire*; and *Rousseau and Revolution*.

Synopsis

The Story of Civilization by Will and Ariel Durant is an eleven-volume set of books. It was written over a lifetime, and it totals two million words across nearly 10,000 pages. The series is incomplete: in the first book of the series (Our Oriental Heritage, which covers the history of the East through 1933), Mr. Durant stated that he wanted to include the history of the West through the early 20th century.
