Fictionalized account based on the true events centered around the deeds of Dr. Corydon Wassell (1884-1958), a Lieutenant Commander who managed to evacuate his wounded men from Java following the Japanese invasion. Royalties were donated to the Navy Relief Society, according to the front jacket flap.
