An exciting, informative account of all the climbs and expeditions to Mount Everest from 1921 through 1953 --- including the triumphant 9th British Expedition of 1953 led by John Hunt, and ascent of the summit by Sir Edmund Percival Hillary (1919 - 2008) and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay. Author and moutaineer William Hutchison Murray (1913 - 1996) took part in the Eric Shipton 1951 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition, antecedent to 1953 climb. Fine copy in poor dust jacket.
