The uncredited illustrations and decorative initials are from woodcuts by Fritz Broeske, based on drawings by Hella (Broeske) Shattuck. Spine cocked, very light wear at head and heel of spine, corners of boards very lightly bumped, page edges tanned; previous owner name and address on front pastedown and name on free endpaper, the latter over an earlier owner's name, which is dated 1936; old price in ink on ffep; one sentence on first text page highlighted, otherwise text unmarked. No dust jacket. First edition.
