Quarto (11 1/4" x 8 3/4") bound in original publisher's red cloth with gilt lettering to spine and blind stamped "4" to cover in original pictorial jacket. first edition. Story Number 4, for Children of Any Age is Eugène Ionesco's final children's book. Originally billed in Ionesco's memoir Present Past Past Present as "a tale for children less than three years old," in picture book form it became a story "for children of any age." A little girl dreams that she is playing a hide-and-seek game with her father. Condition: Old sticker residue to front end paper. Jacket price clipped else near fine in like jacket.
