About This Item

Philadelphia: Henry Altemus, 1903. Mrs. Ewing's compassionate story of a boy in frail health was originally published in 1885, a few days before the author's own death. Although the book was published by a number of publishers after its first appearance, this Henry Altemus edition is notable for its well-executed 16 black-and-white illustrations, including a frontis. Additionally, it has an illustrated Title Page, as well as an illustrated cover (click on photo). The book is in Good + condition. Bound in a pastel blue-green cloth, the book has some soiling on the spine and rear panel. As for the interior, it is missing the rear endpaper and the rear hinge is thus exposed. However, the binding remains tight and secure. The text pages are mainly clean, but with an occasional fingerprint in the margin area. The book mesures 5 1/2 by 7 5/8 and includes 186 pages. . Hard Cover. Good +/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
